As they had traversed many miles over the last several weeks Dagmar had spent much of her time silently seated within the vardo with Eckerd often seated opposite her. The two rarely spoke to one another despite the long expansions of empty wilderness. Dagmar had often tried to hide her scaly disfigurement with her choice of clothing, even from Eckerd. All she had wanted to do since the curse had first manifested had been to hide away and cry, but she knew if she wanted a cure that was far from a viable option. She only wished Eckerd would stop staring at her. She had begun to notice his eyes rarely left her, and it unnerved her greatly.
